According to the Insurance jargon, the limit is the minimal amount you need to purchase at least through your Insurance coverage. It is the limit that your Insurance Company will extend up to; covering up the expenses of the accidental losses. The state of Nevada has a set of minimal liability limit requirement, which is listed below:

  • $25,000 for bodily injury or death of one person in any one accident
  • $50,000 for bodily injury or death of two or more people in any one accident
  • $20,000 for injury to or destruction of others’ property in any one accident

These limits however, could be adjusted as well per the policyholders’ requirements and circumstances based on risk-taking factors. The limits might often surface up as 25/50/20.

Liability Insurance Plans

As the name suggests, it is the coverage plan that covers for losses that you are liable for. It could involve bodily damage or property damage caused by either the driver or the policyholder. It is advised and considered sensible to have sufficient liability coverage in order to avoid huge penalties if ever involved in tremendously grave accidents, and sued consequently. And this is why you need to get connected to our Express Auto Insurance experts to get more insight to liability coverage limits!

How it works?

Here’s an example for better understanding. Let’s assume you have the standard limits of 25/50/20 as mentioned above. And you are at fault for an accident round the corner of Rainbow and Sunset on a sunny day in Vegas. How will the coverage make your situation at hand reasonable? If the medical expenses of the driver and passenger fall under 25K and 50K of the liability limit, it will be insured fully, paving a safer way for you. Even if there is any vehicle damage that falls under 20K, it will be covered for sure.

If your car hits a pole, or any other vehicle; a stationery non-living entity it would be entertained under this type of insurance. Usually, a higher deductible is paid to minimize the premium paid to an Insurance company in order to avail this coverage. This involves physical damage caused by anything other than collision with stationary objects and physical entities. Such factors may include:

Uninsured/Underinsure Motorist Coverage (UM/UIM)

Uninsured coverage is the type of Insurance applicable when you sustain bodily injury in an accident due to the other party’s fault, while they being uninsured. All your medical expense, or lost wages will be covered up to the limit that you had secured through this plan. In case of the expenses not getting covered within the limit, then the Underinsured plan comes into action. It is a gap-filling coverage plan; in which the amount not covered by the UM coverage plan for the injury expenses could be reimbursed.

Medical Payments Coverage (MedPay)

Medical payments, or MedPay coverage plan works in when you sustain injuries from an auto accident. Your medical expenses are reimbursed to the granted limit. This insurance option is accessible to the policyholder regardless of the location of the accident or whoever was responsible for it; be it the striker or the victim. MedPay is applicable for expenses within the first three years after the accident’s occurrence. In some states, MedPay usually comes in use when Health Insurance is fully exhausted. It is also limited to a specific dollar value.

For example, you accidentally hit a tree and sustained severe injuries in the neck or the collarbone. And your medical expenses reached an amount of $2000. In cases when you don’t have health insurance, then MedPay will reimburse your expenses up to, say, the selected $1000. In this instance, you’ll have to pay the remaining $1000 of your Medical bills.
